2021 WMTRC Training: Week 15

The mantra this week was “find a way to get it done.” I missed too many early mornings for my liking. Work has gotten way busier with the Company’s upcoming earnings call and budget season. I refuse to use this as an excuse. Everyone is busy and those who succeed always find a way. Not the total miles I hoped but I was very pleased with the workouts this week. Saturday was a struggle but it’s the tough days that make us stronger!

No trails again this week. A bit of a struggle to get up on Sunday after celebrating LSU’s win over Florida but I am 3 weeks away from race day and 2 weeks away from travel day. I’m aiming to throw in a trail run during the week. Maybe on Fridays? I’m trying not to overthink it but I also want to make sure I am prepared.

Week 15 Training Details (45 total miles):

Monday (October 10, 2022)

  • Just easing into another with a nice stroll through Uptown Dallas

Tuesday (October 11, 2022)

  • I think this is the first time I did a continuous track workout
  • It felt like I was sleepwalking through the 400s, but I got dialed in during the 200s
  • I got a little carried away on the 2-mile tempo with the sub 6, but it felt good and I had some help with Fonz

Wednesday (October 12, 2022)

  • Managed to sneak in a run between meetings and was it toasty! It felt like summer all over again

Thursday (October 13, 2022)

  • Afternoon tempo miles aided by the downhill drop on Katy Trail
  • It was a mental battle to keep the pace under 6:00 but I managed to sneak in a negative split!

Friday (October 14, 2022)

  • Afternoon easy miles to end a busy work week

Saturday (October 15, 2022)

  • A different vibe out in Fort Worth but I am about it!
  • So much fun running with Chandler and Cait
  • It was a warm day for October but we managed to get 9/10 tempo miles done and now it’s taper week for Chandler
  • Coaching note: It’s been so much fun coaching Chandler. Not easy to train during the summer but she powered through so many elements and so many workouts and I am excited to see how race day goes in 2 weeks at the Marine Corps Marathon!

Sunday (October 16, 2022)

  • Easy recovery miles after sleeping in
